Tunnels and Bridges

Tunnels and bridges create a passage where none existed before. They facilitate the transportation of goods and people in ways that improve efficiency while changing the landscape. There was a time when bridging the Golden Gate was as difficult for the local population to imagine as it would be for us to envision the headlands without the bridge. Engineers develop many bridges and tunnels, but the most memorable ones, their entrances and auxiliary structures, are the product of good designs.
