Osaka Sister City Garden

Landscape architects Walter Hood and Garrett Eckbo collaborated on the Osaka Sister City Garden for the 1990 International Garden Greenery Exposition. Occupying 346 acres on the eastern outskirts of Osaka, the fair was built on an industrial wasteland of abandoned factories and trash dumps. When the pavilions of the Expo ’90 were eventually removed the site remained parkland.
