MIT Graduate School Housing: Eastgate Apartments
Facing a large number of World War II veterans returning to school on the GI Bill, MIT was forced to build new housing for graduate students. During his tenure as Dean of MIT’s Architecture School, Wurster was asked to recommend designers for the project. Wurster acted as a consultant to the faculty group he formed to design the Eastgate Apartments (1950), which consisted of: Vernon DeMars, William Brown, Robert Kennedy, Carl Koch and Ralph Rapson.
