Baldwin & Howell

Archibald Stewart Baldwin (1857-1924) and Josiah R. Howell (1868-1916) were the principals in the real estate firm of Baldwin & Howell. Much of the residential development in San Francisco is the result of their work, including Westwood Park, Forest Hills, Presidio Terrace, Balboa Park, and West Portal. The firm's reach extended beyond San Francisco to the cities of Richmond, Clear Lake, and Sacramento. Baldwin & Howell not only hired Ida McCain, but also used her name and gender to promote their houses.
