Edgar J. Kaufmann Sr. and his wife commissioned two of the most recognized landmarks of 20th-century American modernism architecture; Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater (1943) in Pennsylvania and Richard Neutra's Palm Springs Kaufmann Desert House (1946).
