Cabaña Tanglewood

Nisbet's first project as an independent architect was Cabaña Tanglewood (1954), a cabin he designed and built for himself and a friend in the Santa Cruz Mountains. He worked on the designs for this project while at Taliesin, completing most of the working drawings in his tent at night. Nisbet gave the secluded site its name for the extraordinary amount of manzanita surrounding the land, which had required the use of a machete to access the location.
