Earl Nisbet (1926- ) studied with Frank Lloyd Wright at Taliesin in the early 1950s, returning to California in 1953. His first project as an independent architect was “Cabaña Tanglewood,” a cabin he designed and built for himself and a friend in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Sim Van der Ryn (1935- ) taught in the Architecture Department at Berkeley. He is credited with being one of the earliest proponents of sustainability in design with his "Integral Urban House" in the mid-'70s.
