Dr. Peter Selz Residence

Dr. Peter Selz, an art historian, and UC Berkeley professor sought out Olsen to design a home for his family after seeing the Ruth House. Olsen had already designed several homes in the Berkeley Hills, but the Selz house differed slightly as it was already surrounded by existing plants and trees. Olsen left the planting and grading of the site untouched and conceived a split-level scheme that would use the landscape to enhance the design.
