FSA Mineral King Cooperative Farm
After working for Thomas Church for two weeks, Eckbo joined the western regional office of the Farm Security Administration (FSA) where he was engaged in designing camps for migrant agricultural workers in California’s Central Valley. The FSA Mineral King Cooperative Farm project established ten families on an old 500-acre ranch. The ranch operated as a single-unit growing cotton and dairy products with the landscape designed by Eckbo. The old farm buildings were replaced with modern ones designed by FSA acting district architect Vernon DeMars. Notable planner Francis Violich acted as a consultant for this project.
