Donald Toomer Residence

Berkeley, CA, 1977

While the majority of Olsen's designs tended to develop horizontally, the Toomer residence has an emphasis on the Z-axis. Situated in the Berkeley Hills, the compact design was built for a family of four and boasts three levels. The main/entry-level features a living room, dining room, kitchen, and large outdoor deck. A playroom and all of the bedrooms comprise the upper level and three additional decks. The lower level features two large closets, a laundry room, a trophy room, a bar, and recreation space.
