City of Hope Medical Center’s Children’s Playground

The City of Hope Medical Center’s Children’s Playground in Duarte, California was designed by Garrett Eckbo and completed in 1957. The drawing featured here was drawn by Tito Patri who worked for Eckbo, Royston, & Williams from 1954 to 1957, both in San Francisco with Robert Royston and in Los Angeles with Garrett Eckbo. Looking closely at the drawing, you can see Patri’s signature in the bushes. By 1957 Patri began working with his brothers, architects Remo and Piero on several projects in the short-lived firm Patri Patri Patri.
